看主动还是被动，除了看句意外，还要看用什么动词.比如本句中的动词burn和light就是主动关系，即The light is burning.

再如：他的妈妈坐在椅子上，他站着.

With his mother sitting on the chair，he stood.

同样是坐着，如果动词seat(使……就做），就用过去分词：With his mother seated on the chair，he stood.
