whenever即可引导让步状语从句，表示“无论何时”，相当于 at whatever time， no matter when等，又可以引导时间状语从句，表示“每当”“一……就”，与when用法相似，但语气更强
as soon as，一……就……，一般后面接+ 般现在时， 主句+一般时，引导时间状语从句，表过去，又可以表示将来。表过去从句当主句用一般过去时，表将来从句中用一般过去时或过去完成时。
如:
Whenever she comes， she brings a friend.她每次来都带着个朋友。
The roof leaks whenever it rains.屋顶每逢下雨就漏。
We try to help whenever possible .
