spend可作为动词和名词，有花费，耗费，花钱，花销等含义。
普遍的四种使用方法有：
1、在应用spend时，主语只有是表明人的名词或代词。如：
I spent a lot of money on books.
我花了很多钱购书。
2、若表明“在……上花费(時间，金钱等)”，常见句式spend some money/ some time on sth.，介词on后接名词或代词。
He spends two hours on her homework every day.
他每天花费两个小时做作业。
3、若表明“花费(時间，金钱等)做某件事”，则常见句式spend some money / some time (in) doing sth.，这时第二个动词要用动词-ing形式，介词in能够 省去。
They spent 3000 yuan buying the big colour TV set.
他们买那台大彩色电视花了3000元。
4、此外，spend也是有“度过”的含义。如：
I always spend New Year's Day with the family.
我每个元旦都是和家人共同度过的。
